app: pages - will not load page

I have an ipad that I bought 3 years ago. i am using the app pages. So far it has worked well. A few days ago, it seems as if an update was made, and every time I go to pages, instead of the screen with my documents showing, an orange screen comes up which tells you what you can do with it. I press "continue" and then I press "go to my documents." It pops to "my documents" for a fraction of a second, and then goes back to the previous page, and now I can't go anywhere... nothing is active on the page... What has happened, and how do I get it back to go straight to my documents instead of the intro page. I cannot update to iOS 9.2.1, because I don't have enough storage...
